Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Learn the life skills and strategies you need to help you on your journey toward a sober and healthy life.

Substance Use Treatment: Why Choose Fairfax Behavioral Health?
Addiction can feel overwhelming, but you aren’t powerless. The Fairfax Behavioral Health substance use disorder intensive outpatient program (IOP) can help you take your life back.
Getting help is the first step. Our outpatient drug treatment program provides focused support for adults 18 and up who don’t need a detox program. You get the tools you need to manage your recovery.
Our intensive outpatient program meets for three hours a day, three days a week, for at least eight weeks. The IOP program is a good option if you want extra support but don’t need an inpatient stay.
Reach out if you’re dealing with an alcohol or drug addiction. This program requires commitment and dedication from you, and we’re here to help.
Highlights of our program include:
- Integrated treatment approach: Substance use and mental health disorders, like depression or anxiety, often occur together. Many programs focus on one or the other, but our program helps you recover from both. Our integrated approach helps you understand your needs and progress in your recovery.
- Flexible options: We offer morning and evening tracks and a hybrid program of in-person and virtual meetings
- Customized treatment plans: There’s no one else like you. That’s why you get a treatment plan designed for your needs. We develop a plan that aligns with your goals and evolves with you on your journey to a healthier life.
- Supportive environment: We want you to feel welcome. You work with counselors who understand substance use disorders and peers who’ve walked a similar path. You can find support by sharing your challenges and successes and learning from others’ experiences.
- Help for everyone: We value everyone. We support and affirm LGBTQ+ individuals. We’re also neurodivergent-friendly and present learning materials in various formats to accommodate different learning styles.
- Experienced counselors: The providers at Fairfax Behavioral Health understand the complexities that come with addiction and recovery. We offer the skilled support and guidance you need.
Do I Need Inpatient or Outpatient Rehab?
There are many rehab programs with different levels of support. Some, like our inpatient addiction treatment, are detox programs that provide 24/7 care. Others, like our substance use disorder IOP, offer structured therapy during the day while allowing you to live at home and even continue to work.
Inpatient is a good option for people going through withdrawal because it provides a medically supervised environment. Outpatient care is appropriate for people who want to continue their day-to-day lives while also receiving an additional layer of care and support.
Research shows that substance use IOPs can be as beneficial as inpatient treatment for many people. When you contact us, we help you figure out which program can work for you.
